Climate change: a waste of time

In its confidence and supply agreement with National [PDF], the ACT party demanded and got a special select committee to review the Emissions Trading Scheme. So you think they'd take it pretty seriously, right? Wrong! In the House today, Labour revealed that ACT has stopped even attending committee meetings - apparently, dealing with actual evidence is too much for them, and might distract them from their preconceived views.

This tells us two things. Firstly, ACT's demand for a review was simply a dishonest delaying tactic, and they had no intention of taking it seriously. And secondly, now that ACT has made its disinterest clear, any weakening of the ETS will be due to National. And that is something we should hold them to account for.
