Minimal

After delaying for a week, the government has finally overcome its internal differences and agreed to increase the minimum wage by a paltry $0.50 an hour. For a party which supposedly wants to close the wage gap with Australia, its surprisingly unambitious. OTOH, its far better than National has behaved in the past, and they deserve some congratulations for not following type and freezing it to put more money in bosses' pockets.

As for Labour, its likewise good to see that they have finally signed up for the $15 / hour minimum wage other parties were pushing during the election campaign. But I'd like to see them put their money where their mouth is, by bringing a member's bill to legislate this gradual increase.
