Scotland's government survives

At the end of last month, the Scottish government was defeated in a budget vote. Unusually (to my eyes at least), they failed to resign, instead scheduling another vote and threatening elections if the budget did not pass.

That vote was held on Wednesday - and it was passed by an overwhelming majority after the SNP cut deals with both Labour and the Conservatives to fund specific projects. As for the Greens, whose last-minute demand for more funding for home insulation caused the debacle in the first place, they saw funding for the project cut. Clearly they like their politics mercenary and bare-knuckle in Scotland.
