46,000 unemployed under National

The Labour Market Statistics were released today, showing that unemployment has risen again to 6%. There are now 151,000 people unemployed, 46,000 more than when National took office.

And its worse than Monday's dismal expectations - employment has fallen. So rather than the economy simply failing to keep up with the number of people wanting a job, it is actually shrinking.

But that doesn't matter to National. Their economic policy has all along been focused on creating and maintaining a reserve army of labour to keep wages down. And provided their mates at the top are making out like bandits, they don't care what happens to ordinary kiwis.
