Sue Bradford has the numbers

Sue Bradford's Corrections (Mothers with Babies) Amendment Bill looks set to pass its first reading on Wednesday, with the support of National, NZ First and United Future. It's an unlikely combination - mainly because Labour hasn't made up its mind yet - but a testament to those parties' open-mindedness. The bill's proposals deserve investigation before a select committee, and its good to see parties from across the political spectrum willing to give it a fair go.

There's no information yet though on how Metiria Turei's Misuse of Drugs (Medicinal Cannabis) Amendment Bill. This will probably face debate, if not a vote, on Wednesday as well, but the parties have given little indication of how they intend to vote. The most media attention it has received is Meyt proposing that it be a conscience vote. Maybe they're all just hoping that if they don't talk about it, it will go away...?
