Punishing success

Since 1992, the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority has been promoting energy efficiency in New Zealand. For the past several years, it has done a fantastic job promoting home insulation, primarily through the massively successful "Warm Up NZ" home insulation grants scheme. So naturally, the government is planning to disestablish it and fold its functions into the Ministry for Economic Development.

This makes no sense at all. But it speaks volumes about National's commitment to energy efficiency: none at all.
