Climate change: Its us or the coal industry

The IPCC released the AR5 Synthesis Report today, and the message is clear: climate change is happening, and we are causing it. Letting it happen will not just lead to widespead extinction, sea-level rise and extreme weather - it will kill millions from famine, drought, and water shortages. Stopping it means radically decarbonising our society, shifting to 80% renewable energy by 2050.

In other words, to get through this, we need to put the coal industry out of business.

Big Coal isn't going to like this. But like Big Tobacco, their business model is killing people and making their victims pay for it. And we need to end that, hike their costs, limit them to a niche product for specific, limited industrial uses. The idea that we should condemn millions to death and millions more to suffer simply to protect the profits of a few is simply monstrous.
