A lynching

Last night, a teenage Israeli soldier boarded a bus in the town of Shfaram, pulled out a gun, and proceeded to shoot the passangers, killing four. He was swiftly arrested - then lynched by a screaming mob as he was being led away by police.

This is utterly sickening. Terrorists should be given a fair trial, not beaten to death on the street. As for the mob, they are nothing but murderers, and hopefully they will soon be facing justice.

They _should_ be given a fair trial, but I find it hard to blame the mob in this case. If friends of mine had been shot in front of me, I wouldn't be inclined to sit back and quietly wait while the murderer was taken away for trial.

Perhaps a trial is a bit to severe. How about some counseling or sensitivity training? That will show them!

What a joke! I am almost amused that so many are so alarmed about the mob killing this murderer. What about those who kill innocents with nail bombs. Are they almost as bad as the mob?

revenge is a very poor basis for a system. Such a system degrades those getting revenge as well as those upon whome revenge is delivered.

Utterly sickening? Yes. Utterly human? Yes.

Whilst I totally disagree with the mob's behavior, and I hope I could never act like that, I'm still conscious of that viseral revenge instinct that inhabits angry mobs of people. It's understandable, although unacceptable.
